Do I need to make reservations for my treatment?
Yes, either by phone or visit the spa to make reservations at your earliest convenience. Enjoy a la carte services and spa packages. Spa packages often included a Cafe Travail lunch and a take-home gift.
What do I say when I make an appointment?
As much or little as you need. No one expects you to know the difference between a salt glow and an herbal wrap. Ask to have the services explained. Request a recommendation if you like. Inquire about special packages. Let the spa know if you have a health condition or are pregnant. Set the appointment time and ask how long you should plan to be there.
What if I have to cancel a spa reservation?
We hope you can join us however to avoid cancellation charges, please honor our twenty-four-hour advance notice policy. Cancellations made with less than eight hours notice will be subject to full charge.
May I request a male or female therapist?
Absolutely. Some guest service coordinators will inquire about your preference. If no one asks you and it is important to you, bring it up.
When should I arrive for my spa treatment?
For an ideal experience; thirty minutes before your appointment is ideal prior to your reserved time to allow you the opportunity to shower and relax before your treatment. This is not just to keep the spa on schedule; early arrival allows you to check-in, change, and relax in the spa contemplation area without rushing. Herbal tea, dried fruit, lemon water, and munchies are provided. Please understand that your treatments will end on time so the next guest will not be inconvenienced. Upon departure, please stop by the reception desk to return your spa locker key and settle your account. Charges may be settled by cash, check major credit card or gift certificate card. Future reservations may also be made at this time.
Can I bring my valuables?
Valuables should not be brought into the spa as we are not responsible for misplaced articles.
What do I wear?
You are given a robe and slippers or, you can bring your own if you are more comfortable, to wear while waiting for treatments. If you want to wear a bathing suit or underwear, that’s up to you. You need to do whatever makes you feel comfortable. During treatments, our therapists are trained to drape you appropriately for privacy.
What do I do in the treatment room?
Follow the therapist’s instructions. For Massage, for example, they will leave the room while you hang up your robe, lie face down on the table, and cover yourself with a sheet. They will knock before re-entering to make sure you are ready. Throughout the treatment, the therapist will tell you what they are doing and ask you to roll over, sit up, and so on.
What if it doesn’t feel good?
If you’re too hot or too cold, the music is too loud or too soft, the touch is too hard or too light, speak up. If you feel claustrophobic or uncomfortable, let your therapist know. You’re not going to offend anyone, and often the challenge can be easily corrected.
How about tipping?
It’s always appreciated, our spa policy is to accept gratuity however it is not mandatory. We only add a service charge on services for large groups. It is really up to you. Do not worry about where to put bills in a robe without pockets: Tips can be left in envelopes at the front desk. Just ask when you pay the bill.
May I bring my cell phone/pager?
Only if you turn it off. Remember why you and everyone else came here. Spas are quiet zones.
May I bring my child?
Again, spas are quiet zones; only adults are allowed in the spa area. Minors are welcome to experience Nail and Salon services with a guardians’ approval. massage, skincare, and body treatments are for our guests 18 years and older.
Is it okay to talk to strangers?
Put people in identical terry cloth robes and they’re not strangers for long. By all means, strike up a conversation.
How can I ensure a memorable spa experience?
Communicate with us. Talking with your therapists will help them to customize your services to ensure your maximum enjoyment and arrive on time.
What can I expect when I come to the spa?
The Aveda Spa Experience is an expression of Aveda’s unique point of difference that will take you into a total relaxation experience.
First, you will be welcomed and greeted by our Guest Service Coordinator, Spa Attendant or Aveda Advisor and brought back to the spa contemplation room. You will be offered Comforting Tea or Lemon Water. Then the coordinator will confirm your service appointments and guild you through the check-in process and introduce you to the spa and its facilities.
If it is your first time you will be given a complete tour of the spa and facilities along with a brief introduction of The Work’s philosophy and mission. You will give a brief introduction and overview of the Aveda Skin and Body Care collection and informed of specific products you will be experiencing during your spa service (s)
Next, you will be given anesthetic analysis and consultation. Where the service provider will observe and gather information and expertly evaluate your current needs. A professional treatment plan and self-care program will be recommended.
Then you will experience an aroma journey to balance the mind, body, and spirit. After that, you will have an explanation of what service you are about to experience to ensure an enjoyable and relaxing treatment. This begins the relaxation process and you will be escorted to the treatment room.
When the service is finished it is very important to have a moment or two to adjust as you awaken to a new and refreshed sense of well-being.
You will be invited to partake of a little refreshment-purified water with fresh lemon or a mint leaf along with a little nourishment such as fresh or dried fruit which is very helpful during this post-treatment transition time.
The service provider will want to know how you are feeling and if you enjoyed the service. Also what you enjoyed most about your treatment.
You will then be assorted to the spa contemplation room where you may have questions about the product recommendations from the service provider. Feel free to ask for a professional treatment plan, recommendations, and frequency.
It is important for you to emerge from the treatment room feeling and looking presentable, at this time you can relax in the spa contemplation room for a few quiet moments or change in the locker room. The service provider, support person or the Aveda Advisor will then perform a finishing touch of makeup for you and provide further in-depth product education on products and guild you through the checkout process and pre-book your next appointment.
